Adjacent to La Palapa is one of our visitors favorite spaces. From here you can view the Corchal / Botanical Garden while relaxing in one of our comfortable hammock chairs. Thursday -Saturday you can make you very own S'mores courtesy of the house.
Temazcal
Temazcal or traditional Mayan sweat lodge is an experience not to be missed on your visit to Mama Loo.mm. The word temazcal in Nahuatl means "house of heat". Formerly the temazcal ceremony was considered a 100% healing ceremony and was used for the purification of the body after traditional ball games or battles. In the Mayan culture, the temazcal is built in a circular shape, similar to that of an igloo, representing the matrix of Mother Earth. During the ceremony, the guide invites you to explore the feelings that emerge as the red-hot "grandmother" stones are invited to take part in the ceremony helping to slowly magnify the heat inside the stone structure. Dare to live this experience, our spiritual guides Mario, Goyo and Karina, will ensure that it is relaxing, emotional, The Pool
Although small, it has a lot of character! Imagine imersing yourself into 5 meters in diameter and 1.20 meters deep of fresh water drawn directly from the underground rivers! Your skin and spirit will thank you. Access to the pool is at your own risk, from 8 am to 6 pm. El Corchal / Botanical Garden
A corchal is an open collapsed cenote, which still has its water holes. Our corchal has a diameter of approximately 46 meters and 5 distinct water holes around it. Inside you can find an extensive variety of plants and trees from the region including a hybrid variety of Anona (Sugar Apple tree) that according to our native friends from the region can only be found in Mama Loo.mm. Plant Nursery / Garden
While from the beginning our mission has been to restock the property reproducing the species found here, over time our nursery has grown to incorporate some edible plants such as oranges, bananas, chili peppers, sweet herbs, etc. Mama Loo.mm is an old chiclero farm and for this reason we originally found adult lime, and sour orange trees. We suppose that when the chicleros ate their meals, they threw the seeds of the fruits on the ground and nature took care of the rest. We have recently incorporated new planting beds, and a new compost system aimed more at regeneration of the soil. Trails
As in Rome, all trails lead you back to the main path. It doesn't matter if you decide to go around the corchal, go to the bathhouse, your Kúuchil or the plant nursery, the path you choose will always take you to the main path affectionately known as "the boulevard". So, you can walk the property quietly and admire the birds, butterflies, lizards, etc. knowing that you can't ever really get lost! |
